The Prime Minister's Office's through Security and Law Division Unit the National Maritime Coordination Centre, co-hosted a Maritime Technical Workshop with the office of US Embassy in the country. It took place at Radisson Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The workshop was officiated by Yang Amat Mulia, Pengiran Anak Haji Mohammed Saifullah bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, the Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force. As part of collective engagement in Brunei, the technical workshop serves as a significant platform to enhance maritime technical understanding address evolving maritime security challenges through the exchange of best practices and expertise.
In the opening remarks, Commander Rasman bin Puteh, the Maritime Director of National Maritime Coordination Centre, extended appreciation to the US government continuous positive engagement with local counterpart in institutional and capacity building initiatives. With exchange of best practice and technical insights from the United States counterpart, the workshop aims to streamline maritime knowledge and strengthen the ideas of collective and coordinated responses to maritime security challenges, in coherent and consistent manners.
Not only the workshop underscores the importance of Whole of Government approach in maritime security but the strategic importance of like-minded international partners to collaborate in ways that support Brunei's national interest and regional spirit.
